WHITE GLUE! Part 2

The test -
Here's an older bottle of Aleene's Tacky glue. I bought it a few years back and had never used it. I changed out the orange Elmer's nozzle in place of the wider Aleene's nozzle.

I'll use it for a test of all three glues - old Elmer's White Glue,  new formula Elmer's and Aleene's Tacky glue.
I wrote the names on a piece of scrap cardboard.
To the right of the names two pen marks were drawn with 5mm space between them. These are to gauge the width of the squeezed out drops of glue.
Three drops were set down. Immediately the new thinner formula Elmer's started to spread out. I had to keep the cardboard flat or the glue would have quickly ran down the board.

It's surprising how long three drops of glue take to dry.
An hour later the old Elmer's (on the left) had skinned over. It still kept it's round shape.
The new formula (middle) was still wet and had flattened out.
Aleene's glue (right) was skinning over and kept the round drop shape.

The middle drop picture:
The first glue to dry was the new formula Elmer's white glue.
The drop had almost completely flattened out!
Try building up a fillet with this stuff! Good luck.
Imagine the indented ring on a BT-50 tube above the upper centering ring of an engine mount!

Both the Elmer's old formula and the Aleene's Tacky drops had held their "form". The center of the two drops had collapsed.

This new Elmer's formula might be great for some applications but not for many paper to paper joints.
For the time being I'll play it safe and use epoxy for engine mounts and couplers. In other words, any two assemblies that need to slide in place over glue.
Titebond Molding and Trim Glue is for fillets.

The life of a rocket nerd - I'm sitting at home watching glue dry. Boy do I need a date.

Update: I tried some engine mount fillets using the Aleene's Tacky Glue. The glue comes out thicker and the fillets didn't dry smooth. The Aleene's doesn't look to be self leveling like the older Elmer's.

This might be worth a try:

It isn't as thick as their regular "tacky" formula. This or a decent no-drip School Glue. Yeah, but which one?
