Accurate Straight Line Cutting


When you cut balsa fins or the straight sides of a shroud you have to allow for the thickness of the cutting blade.
Don't just set your straightedge on the line and cut.

Set your blade tip on the line to be cut first.




With the blade tip still on the cut line,
Slide the straightedge to the right, onto the side of the knife blade.



With your knife and straightedge still in place,
Slide the upper end of the straightedge over onto the upper end of the cut.
Match the distance between the lower cut mark and upper cut mark
Hold the strait edge down firmly while making the cut.

TIP: Look at my fingertips.
Before making the cut be sure your fingertips are clear of the path of the knife! Trust me, you cut off your fingertips and you won't be playing the banjo for a month.
