I never owned one of these kits but was curious about them.
These tubes look like they were cut on a band saw! Pretty rough and could be cleaned up with a sanding block.
Still, if I received these parts in a kit, I would have been disappointed. I'd rather get a wrap, trace it and cut them myself.

The V III was the only one of the Vikings that I cloned as a 1:1 bird back when I went through my FSI phase a few years back. (Wrong. The V was also 1:1, but that's one big birdy.) My tubes were pretty raw when I finished cutting them out, but they cleaned up fairly well. I'm guessing the stock tubes would have done likewise, but you're right, they sure are homely looking. Lately I've been thinking that I needed to also do the II and IV as 1:1 birds.
