Much of this was probably covered when the first set of fins were shaped.
I'll try to cover other points of the fin shaping. This style of this fin is important, it comes up often on scale rockets.
The first try at the fins looked too thin after sanding the diamond wedge taper in the 1/8" thick basswood.
I laminated two pieces of 3/32" basswood together. The glue dried while the pieces were clamped together with clothespins.
The new fins will be 3/16" thick, just 1/16" thicker than the first try. But, it made a big difference in the shape and the higher center line definition.
The leading, trailing and outside edges were given a coat of medium CA glue applied with a Q-tip. This seals the wood so the marker swipe can't soak into the balsa. The black marker stays as a very thin skin coat outside the wood.
The pencil line is the high center of the wedge shape.
Here you can see the high contrast of the black marker.
It's much easier to judge the thickness of the leading and trailing edges with that dark edge.
First I sand just the leading and trailing edges to the final thickness, the sanding to the center line is next.
The inset picture is the small outside edge.
