Estes 1:200 Scale Saturn V Sneak Peek

Posted by Estes on Facebook -

To see the short video: CLICK HERE

This 1:200 scale plastic version should be about 21.6" tall and 2" diameter.
I wonder what the engine recommendation will be?
John Boren posted: "A C6-3 would be the only Estes motor that can be used at this time. A 18mm composite D would be real nice."

There is also a few new rocket deals on the Estes website SPECIALS page . . .

  1. While I usually prefer builder's kits, I have to say I'm looking forward to being able to pull a nearly complete Saturn V out of the box when this one comes out.

  2. It does look cute.

I, on the other hand, really hate that they use Facebook as their PR venue. :(

  3. Curious if this might be the AMT 1:200 Saturn V converted for flight by Estes?

  4. Anonymous, I had the same thought when Estes announced they were going to have a 1/200 scale Saturn V but this one looks different than the old AMT model. Estes model looks like it doesn't have the ridge detail that the AMT model. This kit looks like it is smooth like BMS Alway Saturn V.

  5. I am curious how much it will cost to buy. If I do a rocket build for youngsters, I would use a semi-scale built from household scraps for economy reasons.

  6. It's like a more compact version of my Cox Saturn V. I know I'm going to love it! Does anybody know a release date?

  7. This little Saturn looks great, from the quick glimpse. As much as I hate FB for their biases, it makes sense for Estes. Let’s face it, FB is the best way to reach new and old customers. And the FB rocket groups are huge compared to the Internet forums, like YORF and TRF. I participate in YORF, but activity of the Internet forums has dropped considerably. Activity on FB groups is huge. I gave in to FB begrudgingly a couple years ago, because of kids and grandkids, but my major involvement in FB is for model rocketry.
Now, back to the little Saturn. My only concern is how few can I convince myself to buy? Probably 2, but 3 sounds better. One to fly, one to display, and a backup. My standard buying practice. :-

  8. I haven't seen one all the way out of the box. Think it'll have the correct paint pattern, or the old Revell pattern? Haha.
