Freedom 7 Build Part 9 LES Module

The ends of the LES Canister Module dowel are squared up with a sanding block.
I didn't want any grain to show through the final red paint so I filled some pores with Carpenter's Wood Filler.
After sanding it was sealed with that old sanding sealer. It would be hard to smooth it up with the paper strip wraps in place.

The instructions have you cutting 3/32" wide strips from the edges of the card stock wrap sheet. 3/32" wide seemed a little too wide for me. I cut mine a bit thinner thinner.

Here I've started the strips by first tacking the ends onto the dowel and letting it dry. One strip is almost to the top, the lower strip is 1/16" up from the bottom for a gluing to the tower legs.

From the TIP in the last post, I've dipped the toothpick into the drop of white glue. A small drop is dragged and smoothed out down about half the length of the card stock strip. It doesn't take much glue.

Roll the strip around doing your best to keep it aligned when it rolls over over itself. Two wraps for the top and bottom bands, a single wrap for the middle bands.

The LES Canister Module is ready to be glued to the tripod tower in the next step.
