FlisKits Mercury Redstone Build Part 23, Launch Lug TIP

The 1/8" diameter lug seemed pretty big to be glued on this BT-5 based model. It took away from the looks of the finished model.

I cut the tapered ends down to the length of the leftover BT-5 tubing. The lug and standoff were then glued to the tubing.
Directly opposite the lug a pencil line was drawn down the length of the tube.

The tube was slit down the pencil line with scissors.
The slit overlay tube was opened slightly and slid down the tube from the top. Be careful not to scratch the decals.

The fit of this lug sleeve it actually pretty tight and might not even need a piece of tape to hold it in place for flight.
It can be slipped on for a launch and removed for display.
