I'll have to look at my Probe - I think I built the strakes/secondary fins as a unit and sanded the sides smooth. Can't recall at the moment and it's been awhile since I launched it.
Hi Anonymous, I thought about doing the same thing. It would have been a whole lot easier doing it that way. It was difficult to fillet and smooth sand the undercoats with the additional strake edges in the way.
All your builds look great! I too, went with a different color. I really enjoyed how a darker green turned out with it, as it is one of my favorite in my small collection to shoot. -Side note: just found your blog looking for tips on the Mercury Redstone, and am feeling much more confident in my upcoming attempt with your guide. Thank you!
Nicely done. Which one goes on EBay, the orange or purple?
ReplyDeleteHi BAR,
DeleteProbably this orange one will go on Ebay. I wasn't as happy with the finish on the purple one. I only sell the ones which turn out better.
