Estes Asteroid Hunter #3224, Build, Part 4, Fitting The End Assemblies

I wanted to clean up the laser burnt edges of the formers without changing their shape or reducing the size.

Notice the sides of the interior forms aren't straight but have a slight curve. Some 400 grit was wrapped around a used engine casing to give some supported sanding.

This first former is glued up against the black retainer ring.

The front and back end pieces were filled with CWF and smooth sanded. It would be difficult to fill the grain in these assemblies after they are glued onto the tube ends.

After the CWF fill, some filler/primer was shot and smooth sanded.

An angle was sanded to get a smoother open slide onto the interior tube.
It didn't take much sanding for a slip fit. Note the angle of the casing. Sand a little, check the fit and sand more if needed.
