Estes Asteroid Hunter #3224, Build, Part 12, Cleaning Up The Edges

After sanding down the sides and reducing the card stock overhang - I ended up sanding through some of the primer/filler and the CWF filler. I'll have to fill these again. Maybe I shouldn't have filled them earlier on, but didn't know this much sanding was needed.

The bare balsa strip (held on the side in the picture) is the "Q" trim piece. These will require another CWF fill and a shot of filler/primer and sanding before gluing on the side. One good thing - the "Q" pieces will cover up the notches on the side of the AA pieces. The weird thing - the fin notch in the back is rounded, the leading edges of the fins remain square.

I gave the sides and beveled ends of the main body assembly another shot of filler/primer.

There is a little card stock edge left after smooth sanding. You can almost feel it with your finger.

I squeezed a drop of medium CA on some scrap cardboard. A Q-tip was used to wipe the glue just over the edge.

The CA glue wipe hardened up the remaining extended lip overhang.

Some 400 grit on a block was used to even up the cardstock with the balsa sides.
