Estes Saros, K-54 Build, Fin Can Build, Part 11, Decals and Chrome! TIPS

The fin can wasn't glued in yet. The UNITED STATES vertical decal is centered between two fins.

TIP: Sight down the body from the fins forward, place and center the United States decals on opposite sides of the body tube. Turn and glue the fin can 45 degrees after the vertical decals are in place.

Here's the trick for printed chrome fin plates:
TIP: The black print is home printed on clear decal paper. The decal is set down over chrome trim Monokote.

On the right you can see how the decal tucks into the root edges of two fins. No chrome trim yet, just shown for positioning -

The clear decal is cut out just outside the border line.

The chrome trim is cut to the same size as the decal.

Before lifting off the backing, mark the top and bottom center points with pencil. This is just an indent mark, not an ink or definite pencil line. These marks won't show up when the chrome is set down on the model.

  1. I did that trick on my A-20 Demon clone and it came out really nice. Better than I expected.

    1. Hi Buzz,
My first time using this decal over chrome trim was on the Centuri Satellite 62SL. The end results look like printed chrome.
