Estes Announces New General Manager

    1. It was Orville Carlisle, inventor of the model rocket.

      Stine's father, G. Harry Stine, was NAR #2.

    4. Third post in 10 minutes. In reality, Orville invented the model rocket as we know it today. There were others that were experimenting with so called 'model rockets' before that, but I believe they would still be classified as basement bombers. Orville is pretty much the guy that came up with the model rocket motor using integrated thrust, delay, and ejection charges in the same package. He was a pyrotechnic hobbyist besides being a shoe salesman. The use of paper, balsa, and plastic for construction of the first model rockets came from consulting Orville's brother, who was a model aviation enthusiast.
