Happy Fourth Of July!

Frank Baeyens posted on the Facebook Model Rocket Fanatics page:
"Mass rocket launch at College Leeuwenhors in Holland tomorrow . They plan a simultaneous launch of 5000 (five thousand) rockets - "

(Estes sales may have gone up a few points. I wouldn't want to be downwind of all that smoke!)

  1. Chris,

All 5000 rockets are sponsored by Raketenmodellbau Klima Germany. They where built by the students. The rockets will be powered by Klima A6-4 motors.

Estes is not involved in this world record attempt.

  2. Yee-Gads!! That is impressive! I hope this goes well. Let's do a little simple math for just the motors involved here...
If an individual were to pull this off, it would take 1,667 daily trips to Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon to buy that many packages of A8-3 motors. At $6.70 per package, that would total $11,166.70. Adding in Denver area 7.9% sales tax of $882.17, that brings the total to $12,048.87 !! Yikes!
I don't have time right now to add up the cost of 5000 rocket kits (Generic E2X's, maybe?), glue, paint, recovery wadding, and launcher facilities, but it would be substantial. Definitely well beyond my hobby budget!

  3. I am glad Klima is producing in quantity. They were still getting the cash flow straight when I checked in 2016.
