Estes SR-71 Blackbird Build Part 16, Shroud Fills




The fill piece was rolled over with a dowel to indent a small curve.
This will better fit the curve of the shroud.







When gluing paper to paper you don't have to use much glue.
Apply a thin coat and press the fill piece into the recess.
Roll the dowel over the fill piece and shroud molding the wet pieces smoothly into each other.


After the white glue dries, apply a coat of CA.
This hardens both the shroud and fill piece so they can both be sanded together.
I used the four sided fingernail file to even it all up.


After two coats of CA and sanding here's the finished fill reading for a first coat of white.

Here you can see how the recess rectangle wasn't cut with 90 degree corners.
