More Rockets Mach 10 Finished

This kit was an interesting challenge.
The kit supplied ST-7 sized nose cone couldn't be used with the BT-20 engine mount tube.
White decals had to be hand cut. The dull coat was sprayed over the clear Future decal areas and isn't noticeable now. A challenge, but a good result in the end.
The small red lights on the wing tips were cut from trim Monokote.
The customer is responsible for test glides and the clay weight that goes into the "tank" under the canopy. The remainder of the clay goes into the plastic nose cone.

  1. Nice job! Just wondering, does the nose cone (target marker) recover separately like the original Centuri Mach 10? BTW the Jim Z site is down today. Hope it's not permanent. Cloned some great rockets from those plans.

    1. Hi BAR,
It ejects the nose cone like the Centuri version. The Centuri instructions say the streamer can just hang down outside the interior engine mount tube. That would have to be a short streamer without getting burnt by the engine flame.

  2. Follow up re: the JimZ website. Apparently the URL was changed: small z now instead of capital Z. So if you bookmarked the site when it had a cap Z it will show as page not found. So delete your old bookmark and save the new one and build, build, build.

    1. Thanks BAR,
It's back - Whew! I appreciate the new link. It also looks like some of the Centuri information is back.

  3. It looks great! Did you build two? Will you get a chance to let us know how it fly's, glides and recovers?

    1. Hi Scott,
Normally I'd build two at a time, but this was a "one off". No flights on my end, sorry!
As I remember from a build in the 1970s, it glides fast and not for a long time.
