Estes Dragon Ship 7 #1345, Part 5, Engine Mount Painting

I've jumped way ahead in the instructions. The engine mount and motor tube assembly is sprayed silver, then glued into the model after the main body is painted.
This shows the first coat of silver after sanding.

TIP: I sharpened and sanded a dowel to dress the ends of the tubes. Sometimes there are fuzzies around the end of of the tube. The sharpened dowel is turned against the inside edge of the tubes smoothing out any roughness.

The assembly got final coats of sivler and the tape was removed.

Along with the black on the recessed centering ring, I added some black trim to the inside edge of the motor tubes with a Sharpie. The pen allowed me to color just the inside, leaving the edge silver.

I have a rarely used bottle of black enamel. The insides were painted farther in with a Q-tip.

Here's the finished mount slid in dry.

You can still see the black centering ring. The black trim inside the motor tubes ties it all together.
