Semroc Saturn 1B, Build, OOP #KS-1, Part 33, Discharge Tubes

It's surprising how many small part details were made using launch lugs.

The centers of three discharge tubes are cut from 1/8" launch lugs

The outside wrap over skins are cut from the gloss card stock.

The wraps were formed into half rounds by rolling the card stock around a bamboo skewer.

Set the cut launch lug over the skewer for gluing on the skin. The skewer gives support and a handle for gluing.

Apply a light coat of glue on the back of the launch lug.

Press the card stock cover onto the glued lug. Double check the alignment before burnishing the cover onto the lug.

No matter how I dry fitted (before glue) I couldn't get the skin to line up with the angle cut of the lug.

After it had dried, the extended lug end was sanded even with the card stock wrap.

All three of the Discharge tubes -
These I'll use as is, they turned out okay.
