We had about ten loaded cars show up for the monthly R.O.C.K. launch in Oviedo, Florida.
The winds were brisk so most parachutes had spill holes cut or switched out streamers.
Here's my newly shortened CORKSCREW rocket launching with an A3-4t.
You could really see the spin when it was slowing down at apogee.
Brian Coyle launched my UP! CUP with an Estes C6-3.
Stable but turned a bit into the breeze.
You can just see the Q2G2 igniter straw falling away at the edge of the cup.
A minute after landing I found it on top of an anthill. After shaking off all the fire ants, I got away with only one bite.
Roger Smith is responsible for all the great launch shots.
Here's a rare photo capture of a MicroMaxx FlisKit HEMV 4.
The small micro ejection charge wasn't enough to get the streamer fully out of the long upper tubes. Just the nose cone blew, it landed without damage.
An old favorite, the FRANKEN GOBLIN flew with an Estes B6-4.
A large spill hole was cut in the parachute to keep it from drifting away.
Also flown:
The ASP Micro JAYHAWK with a Quest Micro Maxx engine. Great altitude for a 1/8A engine.
The Semroc POINT went up under an Estes B6-2 power. Didn't get a real "rigid chute" recovery though. The short shock cord was still taped to the inside body wall at ejection so the engine didn't hang low enough! No damage on recovery.
