Launch! Bunnell NEFAR, July 14, 2012

I hadn't flown a rocket in a while, so I headed up to Bunnell, Florida for the monthly N.E.F.A.R. launch.

Mike Armstrong brought a few of his growing V2 collection.
This is the ASP V2 with an Estes E9 engine.

.

My first flight of the day was the BIG GIRTHA with a cluster of two C6-5 engines.
Open Rocket says it reached 1,050 feet.

A few hundred feet up was a strong cross wind.
It drifted over half a mile away and landed on the road. No real damage on recovery.

Mark Birnbaum flew two Deltas, this one the Delta 4.
A C6-5 was in the center and two 1/2A3-2t engines were in the SRBs.

Here's my first E engine launch since 1975!
The SCAVENGER was flown with an Estes E9-6 engine to an estimated 1,100'.

Recovery was easy under an 18" nylon parachute.
Jimmy Yawn took a great video - http://www.nefar.net/gallery/2012-07/index.html
Scroll down about 2/3 the way from the top of the page.

Preston Hoover loads two adjoining rods with a Big Bertha and Patriot.

He also flew a Fliskit Tog with a D12-7.

My also flowns:

Dr. Zooch Titan IIIC SLV5 with a C6-5.
The shock cord and parachute got tangled around the SRBs at ejection. No damage on recovery.
Quest ESCORT AS-1 with an Estes B6-4 to an estimated 350'.  Perfect flight with a slow roll during boost.
Semroc CENTURION with a C6-5. Estimated altitude was 600'. At ejection, the parachute didn't quite get out the tube. It nosed in and a fin cracked off on landing.
