Parachute Tape Disk Reinforcement

Sometimes in a parachute kit you'll get paper reinforcement disks.
It's easy enough to check, try and tear one. Paper tears, the plastic disks won't.

Paper disks should be replaced. If not replaced, at least reinforced.

The disk was set on the corner of the chute material.
A piece of clear tape was set over the disk.
I punched the hole with my rotary punch.

TIP: A punched hole with a clean edge is stronger and less likely to tear than a ragged edge hole punched with a sharpened pencil.

Cut off the excess tape along the edge of the parachute corner.

Tie the shroud lines on as usual.

Adding the clear tape reinforcement will make the shroud lines less likely to pull through the corner of a parachute - especially a mylar chute like the one shown here.
