Wolverine Rocketry Phoenix AIM-54A Build Part 8 Gluing The Engine Mount

The rear centering ring of the engine mount is recessed 1 3/4" from the rear of the body tube.

I measured using the end of my straightedge, running the pencil tip up to 1 3/4"
Notice my thumb at the end of the ruler. Your thumb will be your depth guage.

Hold the pencil in this position and pick up the tube.

Sliding your thumb along the tube edge, you'll be able to draw a straight line 1 3/4" from the end of the tube.
Draw all the way around making a complete circle.

Check with your ruler to be sure it is 1 3/4" from the end.
I decided to use 15 minute epoxy for the forward centering ring.
White or yellow glue can shrink and pucker the tube making a recessed ring where the glue dried.

Epoxy was "rolled" in a little to the rear of where the forward ring would end up.
The mount was slid into place and turned to smooth out the epoxy bead on top of the upper ring.
Turning the mount levels out the epoxy and makes a smoother fillet.

Before the epoxy sets up, check the depth again using your straightedge.

After the forward epoxy had set up, a epoxy fillet was applied to the rear ring / tube joint.
