Midget Clone Build Part 11 Fin Prep

Before today's posts:
I'm back on the Holland America Veendam from September 7 through 15, cruising up the St. Lawrence River to Montreal.
If I miss posting here and there, bear with me. The ship internet connections are never good!

Back to the Midget:

I've brought this up before, but it's important.
Laser cut lines are a "wedge" shape. The top of the balsa sheet (facing up towards the laser beam) is cut wider than the side facing down.

It's slight, but in the picture you can see how the fin is standing on a slight angle, to the left. If you were to glue this fin on as it is, you have a good chance it won't want to stick straight out from the center point of the tube.

I'm slightly sanding down the laser cut edge, just enough to square up the laser cut angle.

You can see the lighter bare balsa showing through where the burnt edge has been sanded off.

The fit of the root edge is very good against the body tube and shroud.

All edges (except the root edges) are sanded round.
