The centering rings are cut from a long, thick tube.
The edges are a "wedge" shape, slightly thinner on the green side.
I like to square up the rings, getting rid of the wedge, making the faces a little flatter.
This can help with a model where the engine mount centering rings are flush with the end of the body tube. If you prep correctly, the joint "ring" will be invisible.
The upper mount ring is flush with the end of the engine mount tube.
Here I'm pressing the ring onto the tube using a flat surface, this time my sanding block.
The instructions tell you to: "Mark the tube at 5/8" and apply a line of glue.
Slide the ring over the end of the tube and into position".
Make it easier and don't risk the ring freezing up before you get it to the other side of the pencil mark.
Slide the ring in place dry, no glue yet.
After it is in position (you can use your ruler end to double check) then apply glue fillets.
If you fit rings dry you can make adjustments before trying to slide them over the glue already setting up.
