Small bits of white glue were pushed into and under the edges of the slot.
The excess on the outside was wiped off. After cutting, the loose card stock fibers were pressed down and into the glue with a small tweezers.
The sides of the slot were also formed and squared up using the sides of the tweezers before the glue dried.
Here's the slot after enlarging and cleaning up.
I was concerned but it actually came out very well.
Looks great. Good save.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, that looks great Chris.
DeleteThanks guys! This was a iffy fix. I really thought I was going to have to replace the shroud. Removing it and cleaning off the glue would have been a real mess.
DeleteAt least you can say that your fix is good enough that if you'd never mentioned the mishap, no one would've noticed. Much better fix than those occasions where I've disguised problems as "battle damage" (mostly on plastic models).
