This build was a bit of a conflict for me. I like my balsa grain filled and paint smooth. I did my best to keep it light, it did finish out at just 3 oz. without the engine. This model didn't end up with my usual glossy finish.
The face card says the weight should be around 3.1 oz. It may not be a contest duration glider but should still perform fine.
Hey Chris,
ReplyDeleteLooks good to me. Did you test glide it yet? And did you weight it on one side to glide in circles, or just a flat glide?
Hi BAR,
DeleteI wanted to launch it this last weekend at NEFAR but the winds were too strong. I couldn't even do any trim glides. I'll launch it one of these days.
Depending on how it does with the first B6-2 I'll decide if it needs weight on one side before using a C6-3.
Chris,
ReplyDeleteI don't see where the clay weight is added. Did you add weight to the nose cone? If so how much and when.
I thought it may be added during test flying, but I don't see it in the instructions.
Hi Scott,
DeleteStep 23 of the Skydart blog build explains it. The balance point wasn't easy to find in the instructions. http://modelrocketbuilding.blogspot.com/2017/03/estes-skydart-ii-3229-build-step-23-cg.html
