Quest Magnum Sport Loader #3012 Build, Part 13, Adapter and Polishing
I taped off the nose cone coupler before painting it black.
Even after I removed some of the tape tackiness it still pulled up some of the outside coupler layer!
Be aware of this when using black Quest couplers.
The rear shoulder of the payload section reducer needed 1 1/2 wraps of masking tape for a good fit before gluing it on.
Most of the orange paint on the payload tube was smooth and shiny except for one section. There was some pebbling in the surface.
It was lightly sanded with old, reused 400 grit. After being scrubbed off so many times, this 400 grit was probably closer to 800.
The picture on the left shows the surface reflection after just the tops of the orange peel was knocked off. I didn't go all the way to the surface.
Inset picture: Two applications of automotive polishing compound followed, bringing it up to a good gloss.
TIP: The trick is to polish in different directions. Polish up and down and wipe off. Re-apply compound then polish left to right.
