Dr. Zooch SLS Build Part 12 Orion BPS & LAS
Jumping ahead to Step 5:
The nosecone tip is sanded down to a flat 3/16" wide.
This gives the LAS dowel a stronger hold on the nose cone.
Before drilling, find the center of the flat top.
I used the sharpened LAS dowel to press in a mark for better centering of the drill.
A 3/16" drill bit is spun by hand making a recess for the dowel to glue into.
I used a 1/8" drill to be sure the slight hole was centered. Then I moved up to the 3/16" bit.
This is a dry fit of the LAS dowel.
It came out cleaner than I though it would.
It doesn't have to be very neat, it'll be covered by the "party hat" shroud anyway.
