Estes V2 Build Part 16 Fin Gluing

These fins will need a few different glues.

The TTW fin tabs were wood to kraft paper tubing so white glue was used first.
Glue was applied to the tab root edges, the tabs were slid in place making contact against the internal engine mount tube.
To hold the fin tabs in and tight against the engine mount tube, small drops of medium CA were set on contact points on the root edge and tail cone. I did three drops on one side at the top, middle and bottom. This kept the fin tabs tight against the internal tube while the white glue dried.
The CA glue is not meant as a permanent glue to hold the fins in place.
It's only there to hold the TTW tabs in place while the white glue dries on the inside.

The above picture shows the Odd'l Rockets FINTOOL used to get the fins in a perfect 90 degree alignment.
I used the thick card guide supplied in the kit to check out the spacing. All alignment and spacing was on the mark!

The is a slight up and down movement of the fins in their slots. I made sure all fins were slid up to the top end of the slots.

The picture to the right shows construction after all four were glued in place.
There is still a very slight space around the root edges where the slots are wider than the fin thickness.
The fin fillets will be done with epoxy to help fill the small gaps.
