I thought I'd better plan ahead to be sure the lugs won't get in the way of the diagonal stripes of the White Sands paint scheme.
On my Franken Goblin, this wide horizontal stripe had to be cut to clear the launch lug.
I should have pre-planned before gluing this lug in place.
A strip of paper is set above the tips of the leading edge fins. Mark at the top of the fin leading edge.
The paper is folded in two and that crease marked with pencil.
The strip was set back over the two fins again and the center fold mark drawn on the body tube.
An aluminum angle was used to draw the lug placement line down the tube.
The instructions say to use a door frame. Sorry, but it's impossible to mark a BT-80 tube in a door frame.
Before the lugs were glued on the pencil line, two strips of masking tape were set at the approximate placing of the diagonal black stripes.
This gave me a good idea how far down the upper lug had to be glued without hitting the diagonal stripes.
