Estes V2 Build Part 2 Engine Mount Prep

Step 1 has you glue the engine mount together.
I was reading a build on RocketReviews.com by Steve Lindeman:
http://www.rocketreviews.com/estes-v-2-3228.html

He thought one centering ring location was wrong. For his mount to fit correctly, the middle ring was glued at 7" from the end, not 6" as shown in the directions.
To check his results, I decided to dry fit the rings in the tail cone before gluing everything in place.
To do this I'll jump ahead and trim off the ends of the tail cone.
The blow molded plastic is thick, it took four passes with the knife to remove the top and bottom ends.

This is how the motor mount tube should end up, flush with the bottom of the tailcone.

That's not a rough edge on the BT-50 heavy wall motor mount tube, it's masking tape holding the small low end ring in place for dry fitting.

The upper ring should fit like this, butting up against the large end of the tail cone shoulder.

With the engine mount tube even with the (smaller) open end of the tail cone, (on my build) this ring is right at the 6" mark.

The smaller rear ring location was a little off for me, see the next blog post.
