I didn't like that wide seam on the outside or the inside of the body tube.
The outside seam was already filled, the inside seam needed a little reinforcement.
I've never done this treatment on a rocket before.
Some strips were cut from copy paper, about 1/4" wide and 6" long.
Any longer than 6" would be very hard to place on the spiral seam. It would have to be done in segments.
White glue was evenly spread along the back of the strip. The coating was light enough so it wouldn't be over saturated.
I started from the top and positioned it with long tweezers.
Here's how it ended up looking down from the top.
Additional white glue was applied and smoothed out with a dowel.
Notice the strip doesn't go all the way to the top of the tube. That would get in the way of the nose cone shoulder fit.
Whoa! I cannot even IMAGINE how you got that in there and got it to lie straight along the seam. I would definitely make a mess of this.
ReplyDeleteHi Icorinth,
ReplyDeleteRemember, this was a BIG tube. You couldn't do it on a BT-20!
