FlisKits Mercury Redstone Build Part 10 Tower Step 4

The right side horizontal and diagonal corners only touch and will be glued to the adjoining tower side.

The long right side ends are cut with one pass of the razor blade.

Left: Here's one finished side, two more to go.

Right: Removed from the plan sheet.

    1. Hi Lonnie,
It is small, and in the end I didn't even use it!

    1. In the end I didn't use either of the two towers I made. They were just too thick and clumsy looking.
I was curious about the FlisKits Saturn 1B. I don't mind working small, but some of the fine detailing almost seems like too much work. The Dr. Zooch sized models are a better size for me.

  3. Chris...this is a great build so far! I love the Zooch 1bs...I actually have a few up here in the build pile..his Sa-203 , Apollo 5 and another 1b...I was intrigued by the size and detail on the Fliskits 1b....so I thought I would give it a try....will be a little while before I start her....until then I am enjoying your build of the Mercury Redstone...just an awesome looking rocket!

  4. Hi NJ Rick,
The Zooch kits are favorites, smaller and a more manageable size.
I've built the Zooch Saturn 1B but didn't do a build thread on it:
    http://modelrocketbuilding.blogspot.com/2011/10/model-profile-dr-zooch-saturn-1b.html
I did a build thread here on the Zooch Saturn 1 SA-5:

Study up on how to make the Redstone booster tubes before rolling them!

  5. HI Chris...your build thread on the Zooch Saturn was a god send....couldn't roll the tanks until I came across your blog.....was like discovering the Rosetta Stone! I am enjoying this build so far! Looks liek a great set of tweezers and a magnifying glass are required!

    1. Hi NJ Rick,
I'm glad the blog posts on tube rolling helped out.
I use the long tweezers all the time. I got the set from Harbor Freight. There were six in the set, I use only two of them.
I didn't use a magnifying glass, just my regular reading glasses.
