Odd'l Rockets Goony G-16 Build, Finished

This was much better than building another F-16 prototype! I like Goonys.
If the regular Odd'l F-16 sells well I might bring this one out as a companion model.
What do you think? Is it worthwhile to produce as a kit?
I had two stable flights with a B6-4 and C6-5 last Saturday.
A quarter ounce of nose weight was added to help place the C/G forward.

  1. Hey Chris,
You have my vote. I'm working on cloning all of the Estes original goonies, with 13 mm mount. Exception is the Cloud Hopper, which I'm replacing with Semroc Saki decals, since the designs look virtually identical.
A G-16 Goonie would be a nice addition to the collection.

  2. After seeing the G-16 in person, I would buy one in a second. I actually like it better than the F-16.

  3. Hi Chris,
yes, yes, yes do the G-16. You know how I feel about this design. I like it better than the F-16. I see a kit bash and making a few other aircraft designs. I see an X-15 also.

  4. Hi guys,
There might be a place for both versions in the Odd'l line-up.
I just bagged up 25 more (standard) F-16 kits yesterday. It seems people love or hate the Goony idea.

  5. I like this one as well or better than the 'standard' version. Kit it up and I'll buy it!

  7. My F-16 just arrived - parts, including the canopy, look great. A G-16 would look awesome sitting next to the original!

Take your time cutting out and fitting the canopy. Since you got one of the first kits, pay attention to the step numbers. The last two pages should be flipped. The earliest kit instructions had a page number glitch. It's been fixed now.

    1. Hi Unknown,
This might make a good selling kit - but I can't get the plastic nose cones in quantity. Balsa is a alternative but would really increase the kit cost. We'll see -

  9. If the nose cone is problematic maybe a plan pack with the canopy and decals included would work? Goony versions are a lot of fun!

  10. Hi Openroad,
I don't think I'd do a plan pack. I might check again about getting balsa nose cones and see how that flys. Right now I've got to get the F-104 Starfighter kit out - I've been very busy with Christmas and all.
