To make the gluing of the baffle easier, I cut the 18" long 40mm Quest tube at 10" which left 8" for the parachute and nose cone.
TIP: When installing a baffle, you want to keep it away from the engine mount, as far forward as possible while still allowing enough room for the parachute and nose cone.
The baffle was marked at the halfway point, 3/4" down the side.
It'll be glued half into the lower 10" tube and half into the upper 8" tube.
A line of glue was made in the lower tube and the baffle slid in up to the 3/4" line. While sliding in the baffle, turn it to spread the glue bead evenly.
I immediately slid the 8" parachute tube side onto the unglued side of the baffle to insure the baffle was straight. There was no glue on the upper section yet, I rolled it on a table top to make sure both tubes were in line. The tubes were stood up vertically to dry. With the tubes standing there is no chance of the wet glue bead running to the side and setting in one spot, shrinking or distorting the tube.
After the lower half of the baffle was dry, I turned the upper tube against the edge of the lower tube and found the best match of the joint. I'm trying to eliminate any gaps between the two tubes making the filling easier.
When I found the best match position, I marked the place with a pencil line over both tubes.
A line of glue was applied inside the upper tube and both sides were joined together. The upper tube was turned until the pencil mark was lined up with the lower tube mark. The tubes were stood on end, vertically for drying.
