Dr. Zooch Vanguard Eagle Build Part 7 Booster Engine Mount

At this point you are directed to glue two centering rings to the forward end of the engine mount tube. I decided to make the vent holes before gluing on the rings.

The instructions have you cut three 1/4" square panel vents from the tube. Check out the instruction drawing at the left. I used my standard 1/4" round hole punch to make the vents. A round hole would still allow sufficient venting and be stronger than square cut corner edges.

Notice this T-20 engine mount tube gets three holes. Later in step 3, the inter stage can (T-55) gets 4 holes.


If you look closely at the picture, you can see I marked the tube for an even 120 degree spacing. The punch was centered on the marks and the hole was made.

After three holes were punched, the upper centering rings were glued in place.
